Practice revenue and denial calculator
Estimate what denied claims that are never resubmitted cost your practice. Replace the starting values with your own; nothing you type leaves this page.
Your estimate
- Visits per month
- 640
- Expected payments per month
- $64,000
- Denied on first submission
- $5,120 / month
- Never collected (unworked denials)
- $2,560 / month
- Over a year
- $30,720
How this is calculated
Payments = providers × visits per day × clinic days × average payment. Denied = payments × denial rate. Never collected = denied × the share never resubmitted. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not a prediction of results with any product.
How to read the result
A denial is a claim the payer refuses on first submission. Many are fixable — a missing modifier, an eligibility mismatch, a late authorization — but a denial that is never corrected and resubmitted is revenue the practice earned and never collects.
Your clearinghouse or remittance (835) reports usually show the first-pass denial rate. If you do not track how many denials are never resubmitted, try a few values to see the range. The figure that matters most is the yearly total: it is what a denial work queue is competing against.
