How ICD-10-CM codes are built
A code has three to seven characters. The first three — a letter and two characters — name the category, such as J45 for asthma. Characters after the decimal point add detail: severity, cause, laterality, or the encounter. A claim should carry the most specific code the documentation supports.
Search by a word from the diagnosis (“asthma”, “hypertension”) or by the start of a code (“E11”). Results show up to 20 matches; refine the words to narrow them.
About this lookup
ICD-10-CM is maintained by the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics and is in the public domain. CPT procedure codes are licensed by the American Medical Association and are not offered here. Inside Telemedcore, the same catalog powers diagnosis coding on encounters and claims.
